Set against the backdrop of World War II, a U.S. Navy submarine on routine patrol receives orders to rescue survivors from a torpedoed British hospital ship. The crew picks up three individuals: a nurse, a wounded soldier, and a traumatized sailor. As they bring the survivors aboard, strange and unsettling events begin to occur, leading to an atmosphere of increasing tension and paranoia. The submarine's captain, along with his young lieutenants, attempts to maintain order as the ship seems to develop a mind of its own, with mysterious occurrences and sudden mechanical malfunctions threatening the safety of everyone on board.

As the crew struggles to make sense of the bizarre happenings, tensions rise between factions within the submarine and past secrets resurface. The crew is torn between rational explanations for their predicament and the possibility that supernatural forces are at play. With depth charges bearing down on them from above, time is running out for the submarine as the very foundation of reality seems to unravel around them. Fear and suspicion grow, pushing loyalties to the breaking point while they race against both their internal demons and external threats to survive.
