PlotYears after their sci-fi TV show was canceled, the once-popular cast of a space adventure series struggles with mundane lives, appearing at conventions and promotional events to eke out a living. Jason Nesmith, the egotistical actor who played the show's captain, relishes the faded fame and is oblivious to his co-stars' frustrations: former Shakespearean actor Alexander, ditzy Gwen, tech guru Fred, and anxious Tommy. The crew's monotony is disrupted when they encounter a group of sincere, human-like aliens called Thermians, who have mistaken the show's episodes for historical documentaries. They plead with Jason to assist them in defeating a ruthless warlord jeopardizing their survival.
Initially believing this to be just another promotional gig, Jason agrees, only to realize the gravity of the situation when he finds himself aboard a real spacecraft built by the Thermians. After a test of courage and leadership, Jason convinces his skeptical co-stars to join him on the mission. They must come together as a unit to confront the menacing threat facing the Thermians. Drawing upon their scripted adventures from TV and aided by tech innovations and devoted fans on Earth, the actors experience a transformative journey as they learn what it means to be genuine heroes. They grapple with humor and peril, facing challenges that blur the lines between fiction and reality in a comedic yet heartfelt space odyssey that evolves far beyond their scripted roles.
